Caregiver Corner: Melinda Whitlock
Caregiving is a journey marked by incredible milestones and deep personal connection. In this edition of our Caregiver Corner, we are proud to spotlight Melinda Whitlock, a dedicated caregiver from LaRue County who is making a profound difference in the life of her grandson.
For Melinda, the heart of her work is found in the everyday growth she witnesses at home. When asked about the most rewarding part of her role, she said it is simply “watching him progress every day.” She is constantly inspired by his intelligence and his ability to thrive, noting that “he never ceases to amaze me.”
Navigating caregiving is easier with the right tools in place. Melinda identifies the Home and Community Based (HCB) Waiver as a vital resource that supports her family’s needs.
Beyond the formal programs, Melinda emphasizes the importance of the human connection at LTADD. She highlights the support of her Case Manager Mindy Grauerholz, noting that “if you ever need anything, Mindy is always there to help you.”
Melinda is a passionate advocate for the work being done in our region. Her hope is that the general public realizes just how awesome the waiver programs and the act of caregiving truly are. She views the opportunity to care for her grandson not just as a responsibility, but as a joy that allows her to watch him thrive every single day.
