LTADD Solves Parking Challenges with In-House Expertise
At LTADD, we are dedicated to fostering growth and improvement across our eight-county region. But recently, we found ourselves facing a challenge much closer to home: our own success.
As LTADD has experienced rapid expansion over the past couple of years, our team has grown alongside our impact. While this growth is a testament to our commitment to the community, it also meant we were quickly running out of space for our most basic daily need: parking.
The solution started with a simple observation. One day, while standing behind our building, our team realized that by filling in a large ditch on the property, we could significantly increase our parking capacity.
The project became even more viable when Engineering, Design & Mapping Director Charlie Allen realized we had an abundance of material ready to use on an adjacent property. This land, which was deeded to the Central Kentucky Community Foundation by Hardin County Government, is set aside for a potential Hardin County YMCA.
Rather than outsourcing the project, Charlie and our Engineering team treated our own headquarters with the same professional rigor we provide to our regional partners.
The project served as the perfect training ground for our staff to use our latest high-tech tools:
- Drone-Based Topography: We performed a drone flight to capture precise, existing ground topography.
- Advanced Engineering Software: Using our new Carlson Civil Design CAD program, we transformed that data into a professional design and a workable pad for future growth.
- Full-Cycle Management: From the initial concept and cost estimates to bid documents and construction inspection, the entire process was handled by the LTADD team.
The project has successfully added approximately 50 additional parking spots to our site. This expansion includes dedicated ADA-accessible parking in front of a future building pad, ensuring our facilities remain inclusive as we continue to grow.
This project is more than just a new parking lot, it’s a demonstration of the services we offer to our member counties and cities. Many of our local governments do not have a dedicated engineer on staff or the specialized equipment required for these projects, so our Engineering team is willing and able to fill those responsibilities for capital projects. Whether it’s bridge design, industrial road widening, or site development, LTADD provides professional engineering services.
If your community has an infrastructure challenge, our team is ready to help you design the solution. Contact us today to learn more about our Engineering, Design & Mapping services.
