Program Spotlight: Celebrating Decades of Vitality at the Annual Senior Celebration
At the LTADD, we believe that aging should be celebrated, not just managed. While much of our work involves the essential behind-the-scenes logistics of senior care, there is one day every year where that work takes center stage in the most joyful way possible: the annual Senior Celebration.
This month, our Program Spotlight shines on this beloved tradition, an event that brings together hundreds of seniors from across our eight-county region for a day of fellowship, fun, and empowerment.
While the Senior Celebration is known for its music, door prizes, and great food, its purpose goes much deeper. It is a cornerstone of our mission to combat one of the most significant health risks facing older adults today.
By providing a space where residents from Breckinridge to Washington County can gather, we foster connections that last long after the event ends. It is a day where our seniors aren’t just recipients of services, they are the guests of honor.
What Makes the Celebration Special?
The event serves as a one-stop shop for health and wellness. We partner with dozens of local vendors, healthcare providers, and community organizations. At the celebration, seniors can receive health screenings, learn about new Medicare benefits via our SHIP counselors or speak with one of our LTADD CASE Team Members, and discover local resources they may not have known existed.
One of the highlights of the celebration is the recognition of our regional volunteers and active seniors. We take this time to honor those who continue to give back to their communities, proving that the spirit of service has no age limit.
From themed decorations – this year we are taking it back to the ’60s for a groovy good time – to live entertainment, the energy is infectious. Whether it’s a game of Bingo or hitting the dance floor, the event encourages physical activity and mental stimulation in an environment designed specifically for senior comfort and safety.
The Senior Celebration is an all hands on deck event for the LTADD staff. From our CASE (Community Aging & Social Engagement) Team to our administrative staff, it takes months of planning to coordinate logistics for hundreds of attendees.
We also rely heavily on our generous community sponsors. Their support ensures that we can keep this event accessible and high-quality for the seniors who have spent their lives building the communities we live in today.
As we look toward our next celebration, we invite you to get involved! Whether you are a senior looking to attend, a business interested in sponsoring, or a family member looking for a way to celebrate your loved one, the Senior Celebration is a testament to the fact that the Lincoln Trail region is a wonderful place to grow older.
If you are a senior in need of transportation to the event, call CKCATS at 800-242-8225 to arrange for that service.
