Program Spotlight: Family Caregiver Support Program

By

Family Caregiver Support Program also known as the Respite program provides essential, flexible respite care and support services for unpaid family caregivers. The Family Caregiver Support Program helps to reduce stress to the caregiver by providing time to the caregiver to take care of themselves all while allowing the senior to remain in the comfort of their own home.

Respite services can be provided to an individual up to four hours, three times a week. Respite services to the senior include continued care with activities of daily living and safety all while the senior is able to remain in their home. The services also allow the caregiver a break to run errands, attend self-care appointments, attend doctors appointments, have lunch with family and friends or just have a break from caregiving.

The main purpose of the Family Caregiver Support Program is to prevent caregiver burnout by providing temporary, periodic relief from caregiving responsibilities.
