Enhancing Road Safety: Diving into LTADD’s Crash Study Reports

By

At LTADD, helping our members improve safety on their roadways is a top priority. To support road safety projects across our region, we have been conducting highly detailed crash study reports to help our partners make informed decisions.

Our most recent analysis, the Deckard School Road Accident DATA study, covers a five-year span from Jan. 6, 2021, to Jan. 6, 2026. We gather raw data from the Kentucky State Police database. Our team then meticulously filters this information to focus on specific date ranges and requested corridors.

The detailed studies provided to the community highlight a wide variety of critical factors, including:

  • Accident Types: Understanding the nature of the collisions.
  • Weather & Pavement Conditions: Identifying if environmental factors played a role.
  • Time of Day: Pinpointing when motorists are most at risk.

The information is then incorporated into our Geographic Information System (GIS) software to better understand the data. The result is a series of comprehensive maps that showcase every accident along a chosen road corridor. These visuals allow city planners, engineers, and local officials to see exactly where “hot spots” are occurring and what specific conditions are contributing to them.

By combining state-level data with local expertise and advanced mapping technology, LTADD is helping to build a safer transportation network for everyone in our district.
