Caregiver Corner: Misty Foree
In the heart of Hardin County, Misty Foree is doing the vital work of caring for her husband at home. For Misty, caregiving isn’t just a duty, it’s a calling fueled by a desire to bring joy to others and give them something to look forward to every day.
When it comes to caring for her husband who has Parkinson’s disease, Misty said the most rewarding part is the ability to provide assistance in the comfort of the couple’s home, enabling her husband to stay in their home for as long as possible. She has a profound sense of fulfillment in helping others and knowing that her support is the reason her husband can stay in this familiar, loving environment.
Misty also recognizes that while she is her husband’s primary caregiver, she feels supported by his LTADD Case Manager Mindy Grauerholz.
“The case managers are very supportive and available at all times,” Misty said. “They assist with many services that fit our needs.”
If there is one thing Misty wants the general public to understand about LTADD and the caregiving journey, it’s the human element. The staff at LTADD are more than just administrators, they are respected partners who help families manage the intense stress that often comes with long-term care. Their goal is simple but powerful: to keep families home longer, which Misty says she has been able to do.
Misty’s experience with LTADD has been a game-changer for her family. In the world of caregiving, needs don’t always arise during 9-to-5 business hours.
Misty said her case managers are available to provide support whenever it is needed most, well connected to resources and specialized groups that target specific, immediate needs, and able to assist with a wide range of services tailored to each family’s needs.
If you are also a caregiver for an aging family member or one with disabilities, you don’t have to do it alone. Like Misty, you can access a network of support designed to help you and your loved ones thrive.
