On This National Senior Citizens Day, Help Us Empower Independence

By

At LTADD, our core mission is rooted in serving the people, local leadership, and communities of Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, and Washington counties. As we mark National Senior Citizens Day on Aug. 21, we proudly pause to celebrate the older adults who form the true heart and foundation of our eight-county region.

Thank you for the wisdom, resilience, and lifelong contributions that continuously enrich our families, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

National Senior Citizens Day is more than a date on the calendar, it is a powerful reminder of why our agency’s work exists: to ensure that every older adult in the Lincoln Trail region can age with dignity, security, and independence.

Through LTADD’s Community Aging & Social Engagement (CASE) Division, our team works every day to connect seniors, caregivers, and families with life-changing resources. Whether coordinating home-delivered meals for homebound individuals, providing crucial relief through family caregiver support, advocating for residents in long-term care facilities, managing in-home support services, or supporting activity through one of our health promotions, the CASE Division is dedicated to helping our aging population thrive where they feel most comfortable, at home and in their communities.

Building a strong, supportive region for older adults is a collaborative effort that extends beyond agency programs. Every member of our community plays a part in honoring and uplifting our senior neighbors.

This National Senior Citizens Day, we encourage everyone across the Lincoln Trail region to take a moment to connect with an older adult in your life. Small actions make a lasting impact:

  • Reach out: Make a check-in call or visit an older family member or neighbor.
  • Share a moment: Enjoy a meal or coffee together to listen to their stories and experiences.
  • Get involved: Volunteer time with local senior centers, meal delivery programs, or community initiatives.

From all of us at LTADD, thank you to the older adults who continue to inspire, guide, and shape the Lincoln Trail region every single day. Your legacy and ongoing contributions drive our commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities for all generations.

Happy National Senior Citizens Day!
