History: LaRue County was formed in 1843. It is located in the Pennyrile region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 421 to 1080 feet above sea level. In 2010, the county population was 14,193 in a land area of 263 square miles. The county seat is Hodgenville. Abraham Lincoln was born near Hodgenville.
