History: Vine Grove, located in northwest Hardin County, grew out of an 1806 settlement at the forks of Otter Creek. The first post master was appointed in 1853. About 1865, with the advent of the railroad; businesses located themselves to take advantage of the passenger and shipping traffic that the railroad provided. Incorporated in 1897. The population in 2010 was 4,520.
