History: Ekron was once located on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and was known as the biggest shipping point in the county. Today, Ekron still has a railroad passing through; but no depot. Ekron’s has a commission form of government with a mayor. Ekron Elementary, part of the Meade County school system, is located in the city. The Ekron Post Office was established in 1899. The population in 2010 was 135.
