July Employee of the Month: Mike Skaggs

We often talk about the strength of our team and our commitment to the communities we serve. But true dedication isn’t just a talking point, it’s demonstrated through action. 

Today, we are shining a well-deserved spotlight on Mike Skaggs, our Director of Integrated Infrastructure Planning and a vital pillar of our Community Asset Planning and Engineering (CAPE) Team.

When CAPE Division Director Mollie Thompson recently went on maternity leave, it faced the task of keeping regional projects moving forward without a hitch. Mike stepped up to the plate without hesitation, taking on extra leadership responsibilities and ensuring the division never missed a beat.

“Mike’s reliability and dedication to LTADD are unmatched,” Mollie said. “Knowing that our division was in his highly capable hands allowed me to truly focus on my family during my leave. Mike is the kind of professional who doesn’t just do his job, he protects the integrity of the entire division. We are incredibly fortunate that he chooses to continue serving this region. He is a cornerstone of the CAPE team.”

For those who know Mike, this level of reliability comes as no surprise. This is Mike’s second stint with LTADD as he returned from retirement to step into his current role, bringing an invaluable wealth of experience back to our organization. To date, Mike has dedicated 30.5 years of service to LTADD and the Lincoln Trail region.

As the Director for Integrated Infrastructure Planning, Mike’s daily work directly shapes the future of our physical communities. From the water that flows through our taps to the roads we drive on, his fingerprints are on the infrastructure we rely on most.

“I oversee LTADD’s transportation planning and water and wastewater planning programs,” Mike said. “I am also the staff person in charge of the Radcliff/Elizabethtown Metropolitan Planning Organization, which handles transportation planning for both Hardin and Meade counties.”

It is a massive portfolio requiring technical knowledge, regulatory expertise, and deep regional relationships, all of which Mike handles with grace and steady leadership.

“The best part of working for LTADD is working with a group of professionals that truly care about the work we do and the impact we have on the communities we serve,” Mike said. “I wish others knew about the passion of the LTADD team and our leadership. This is truly a place that cares about the work we do and the impact we make in the communities in which we serve and live.”
