Caregiving is a journey paved with dedication, deep love, and unique challenges. In our Lincoln Trail region, thousands of individuals step up every day to care for their loved ones. This month, LTADD is proud to feature David Sadler of LaRue County in our Caregiver Corner.

David’s story is a powerful reminder of the impact a dedicated parent can have and how the right support system can help.

David is the primary caregiver for his son. Day in and day out, he manages the unique responsibilities that come with ensuring his child’s health, happiness, and safety. While the days can be demanding, David finds immense fulfillment in the quiet, meaningful moments they share.

When asked about the most rewarding part of being his son’s caregiver, David didn’t hesitate: “Getting to teach him different things.”

Watching his son learn, grow, and grasp new concepts under his guidance brings a level of joy that makes every challenging moment worth it.

No caregiver should have to walk this path alone. For David, a key factor has been the support he receives from LTADD and his dedicated case manager, Mindy Grauerholz.

Through LTADD’s caregiver support programs, Mindy provides vital health monitoring and safety welfare checks for David’s son. This consistent professional oversight offers David invaluable peace of mind, knowing that his son’s physical well-being and home environment are actively supported by a team that genuinely cares.

David is incredibly grateful for the lifeline LTADD has provided, but he also knows that many families are still struggling in silence. He wishes more people in our community knew just how much LTADD can help through our wide array of specialized services.

LTADD’s Caregiver Support programs are designed to assist individuals who are caring for older adults, individuals with disabilities, or grandparents raising grandchildren. We offer a variety of services tailored to meet your family’s needs, including:

  • Case Management: Dedicated professionals like Mindy who help navigate care plans and monitor health and safety.
  • Information & Assistance: Connecting you to local resources, financial assistance, and support groups.
  • Respite Care: Giving primary caregivers a much-needed, temporary break to rest and recharge.
  • Supplemental Services: Assisting with critical needs like medical supplies or minor home modifications for safety.

If you are a caregiver in Breckinridge, Grayson, Hardin, LaRue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, or Washington County, you may qualify for these free or low-cost support services.

  • What to Expect: An intake specialist will ask a few simple questions about your caregiving situation to determine which programs you qualify for and connect you with a case manager.
