Caregiver Corner: Grace Magana

By

At LTADD, we are fortunate to work alongside compassionate individuals who dedicate their time, energy, and hearts to supporting their family members and neighbors. Every day, caregivers across our region provide compassion, support, and dedication that help their loved ones live safely and independently.

For this month’s Caregiver’s Corner, we are featuring Grace Magana of Nelson County and her experience as a caregiver through LTADD’s Participant-Directed Services (PDS) Waiver Program.

For Grace, caregiving is about making a meaningful difference in the life of someone she loves.

“The most rewarding part is knowing how much I’m helping the person I’m caring for,” Grace said. “I know and see their daily struggles, so knowing I’m making their quality of life better is truly the best.”

Through the PDS Waiver Program, individuals have the opportunity to receive services that support their ability to remain in their homes and communities while giving them more choice and control over their care. Family members and trusted caregivers can play an important role in providing the daily support participants need.

Grace shared that her experience with LTADD has been a positive one.

“It’s been a great agency to us so far,” she said. “We’ve never had any problems that couldn’t get resolved quickly. We appreciate them so much!”

The feeling is entirely mutual, Grace! We appreciate you and the incredible work you do every single day.

At its core, the PDS Waiver Program is about empowering our clients. It transitions clients from a passive recipient of care to the director of your own daily life. By offering the freedom to hire people you already know and trust, whether that is a dedicated neighbor, a close friend, or a qualified family member, PDS ensures that care feels like home, because it is home.

Navigating Medicaid waivers can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Our LTADD team is here to guide you through every step of the process.
