Board Member Spotlight: John O. Thomas

By

It is a bittersweet moment for the Lincoln Trail Area Development District as we celebrate the retirement of one of our most dedicated and long-serving leaders, John O. Thomas. After 35 years of service to the City of Lebanon, Marion County, and our regional community, John is stepping down, leaving behind a legacy of growth and progress.

John has been a cornerstone of the LTADD Board of Directors since 1991, representing the City of Lebanon. He was originally nominated for his position on the Board by Mayor Katherine Blandford.

The most rewarding part of his 35-year tenure was the satisfaction of watching vital projects move through the development process. From critical utility and transportation improvements to advocating for essential regional legislation, his focus has always been on getting things done for the people of our area, and he was proud LTADD was part of that process.

John wants the community to understand the vital “pass-through” role that LTADD plays. He emphasizes that while the agency works behind the scenes, it is responsible for administering a massive array of federal programs that residents rely on every day, including Community Development Block Grants, Aging services, water and sewer infrastructure, and transportation planning.

John’s expertise and commitment have shaped the Lincoln Trail region for the better. We thank him for his tireless advocacy and wish him the very best in his well-deserved retirement, which begins in June.
