Board of Directors: Guest Speaker  (March 20, 2019)

The guest speaker at the March Board meeting was Ms. Michelle Elison. Ms. Elison is a Partnership Specialist with the US Census Bureau. She addressed the need for accurate counts in the upcoming decennial Census.

Stressing the various funding sources that are tied to Census data, she encouraged community leaders to work together forming County wide committees to help promote the Census and to encourage responding to the Census questionnaires when they arrive in March of 2019.

Many local and state programs are dependent upon the dollars that are allocated by the Census population numbers.

Special groups are a focus because of historic low undercounts or response rates. These include groups such as young children, renters, military members and college students.
